Occupational therapists specialize and have extensive training in fine motor and handwriting development. Although the traditional OT one-on-one model has excellent benefits for students, some obstacles can limit progress, including insurance limitations, timeframes/delays for approvals for evaluations, doctor orders, reimbursement, missed appointments, and out-of-pocket costs that can be expensive. School-based OT services operate using a non-direct services model or grouping 3-5 students for very short time frames, generally 15-30 minutes a month, greatly limiting individual student goal progress. Shannon has 23 years of experience as a pediatric OT working in outpatient/private settings, home health, schools, and daycares. She is the only Core Specialist in the state of Alabama in MNRI reflex integration, the highest researched standard in reflex integration techniques. She is cerfitied in the SIPT, Sensory Integration and Praxis
Shannon has 23 years of experience as a pediatric OT working in outpatient/private settings, home health, schools, and daycares. She is the only Core Specialist in the state of Alabama in MNRI reflex integration, the highest researched standard in reflex integration techniques. She is cerfitied in the SIPT, Sensory Integration and Praxis Testing, the gold standard in sensory integration testing and treatment. She is a Certifed Irlen Syndrome Screener, Certified Handwriting Specialist, and an ILS certified practitioner. She has advanced training in visual processing disorders and treatment. She is a national speaker on dyslexia, a certified dyslexic IEP advocate, and a structured word inquiry practitioner. She was recently asked to speak at the Alabama IDA Dyslexia Conference in Orange Beach in October of 2023.

Latoya has 12 years of pediatric OT experience and has worked in private clinics, hospitals, schools, daycares, home health, and more. She is a certified handwriting specialist and has specific advanced training in MNRI reflexive techniques for dynamic and postural reflexes. She has advanced training and experience in learning differences

She has advanced training and experience in learning differences, anxiety/trauma, dyslexia, and ADHD/ADD. Latoya has trained in Qigong massage and Brain Gym foundational brain integration techniques. She has also co-piloted a research study in visual motor deficits impact on sports skills via RightEye advanced sports performance/program.
